100% agreed

kenan, Thursday, 19 July 2007 21:21 (sixteen years ago) link

I have weird body hair. I have hardly any upper body hair at all... you can count my chest hairs on both hands. I usually just pluck those. Maybe someday I'll have something that looks manly, but until then, I'd rather not look pubescent. Ok, so then at the other extreme, I have TOTAL ape legs that are a bit gross, so I trim that shit every couple of months lest people think that a monkey just whizzed by them on a bicycle.

kenan, Thursday, 19 July 2007 21:24 (sixteen years ago) link

I read that quickly and thought you were saying that you didn't want to look like a monkey whizzed on your legs.

Jesse, Thursday, 19 July 2007 21:32 (sixteen years ago) link

"Monkey whiz" is a very disappointing GIS.

kenan, Thursday, 19 July 2007 21:34 (sixteen years ago) link

trimming leg hair? sounds like a fucking disaster waiting to happen

admrl, Thursday, 19 July 2007 21:36 (sixteen years ago) link

what exactly are we talking about here?

admrl, Thursday, 19 July 2007 21:37 (sixteen years ago) link

Threads like this are why I don't go to the beach. I am fucking covered in body hair, and am not real interested in showing it off.

Phil D., Thursday, 19 July 2007 23:16 (sixteen years ago) link

I once worked with this b400-lb. 60-yr-old bear guy that looked like Santa. And he wrote this 'erotic story' he shared with me to proofread. He described this one man as having hair like everywhere except the palms of his hards & feet and on his face and the front of his neck. All I could think of was: "So he wants to fuck Enkidu from the Epic of Gilgamesh." At that moment, I didn't know if I felt more awkward to read this fiction that was the exact opposite of my interests, or by comparing it subconsciously with the Epic of Gilgamesh.

Abbott, Friday, 20 July 2007 01:25 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm a hairy motherfucker. Except I can't grow a good mustache.

Jeff, Friday, 20 July 2007 01:30 (sixteen years ago) link

I have a nice crop of chest hair. Thick, but not too thick. I think it's my best feature.

Rock Hardy, Friday, 20 July 2007 01:35 (sixteen years ago) link

If chest hair is wrong, then I don't want have the option to be right.

John Justen, Friday, 20 July 2007 01:36 (sixteen years ago) link

Let's see some jpgs, people.

Jeff, Friday, 20 July 2007 01:36 (sixteen years ago) link

Yep, I'm a hairy fuck. A pic in this month's wdyll demonstrates it.

Drooone, Friday, 20 July 2007 01:38 (sixteen years ago) link

xpost i agree

Stevie D, Friday, 20 July 2007 01:40 (sixteen years ago) link

Trayce, Friday, 20 July 2007 01:43 (sixteen years ago) link

Hmm, I don't know about these pictures...

Rock Hardy, Friday, 20 July 2007 01:55 (sixteen years ago) link

yeah i'm DEFINITELY not posting a pic of my chest on here without being like completely high and out of it

Surmounter, Friday, 20 July 2007 03:18 (sixteen years ago) link

I'm not quite a werewolf. Not quite.

Oilyrags, Friday, 20 July 2007 03:19 (sixteen years ago) link

Snailtrail yes. YES. YES PEOPLE. yeeeessss And hair is neither here nor there, as long as it moves, bcz if you were ruffling a guys chest and the hairs just sat there like titanium wires, I couldn't handle that.

Abbott, Friday, 20 July 2007 03:20 (sixteen years ago) link

Also, chest stubble >_< NO SIR.

Mind you shaved legs on guys = HOTT OMG.

Trayce, Friday, 20 July 2007 03:39 (sixteen years ago) link

That actually weirds me a little, but then I don't shave my legs so if a man around me did it would make me feel like Yeti.

Abbott, Friday, 20 July 2007 03:40 (sixteen years ago) link

Gilgamesh is basically the world's oldest slash.

Casuistry, Friday, 20 July 2007 04:06 (sixteen years ago) link

Surmounter, Friday, 20 July 2007 04:45 (sixteen years ago) link

lol that was meant for the other thread no more chest hair observations from me ; )

Surmounter, Friday, 20 July 2007 04:46 (sixteen years ago) link

WTF do you think it is if NOT biological?

A curse?

And no there is no reason whatsoever. Take a gaggle of smooth, hairless guys and guys with a full beard, chest and back hair. Now throw them out naked and exposed to the elements for a set amount of time and I bet the relative rates of hypothermia fatalities between the two groups would be so small as to be inconsequential. At the very least, the number of times in a man's life where he'd be justified in saying "Praise evolution that years of Darwinian processes equipped me with this sweet growth of hair sparsely and unevenly covering my upper torso or else I'd REALLY be in trouble now" are pretty small.

Women don't grow beards or chest hair, and they seem to have gotten on just fine.

DustinR, Friday, 20 July 2007 05:07 (sixteen years ago) link

well obv now it doesn't make much of a difference, but when evolution was like happening, these things actually had a purpose.

a lot of things that evolved turned out to be pointless, but they certainly werne't always

and it's awful to look at body hair as a curse. awful and completely like aryan or something

Surmounter, Friday, 20 July 2007 05:09 (sixteen years ago) link

;_;

Drooone, Friday, 20 July 2007 05:10 (sixteen years ago) link

A disaster? Like, a dude with no leg hair? Cancel the Tour de France next year, then, and maybe the Olympics.

kenan, Friday, 20 July 2007 05:33 (sixteen years ago) link

I used to shave my legs. When I was v into teh road cycling.

Drooone, Friday, 20 July 2007 05:33 (sixteen years ago) link

Secondary sex characteristics are a motherfucker. All you bald guys out there... I have your hair on my legs.

kenan, Friday, 20 July 2007 05:34 (sixteen years ago) link

I like the bicycle dudes' legs. Like... wow.

Masonic Boom, Friday, 20 July 2007 10:32 (sixteen years ago) link

I knew the cycling was good for something.

Mark C, Friday, 20 July 2007 10:34 (sixteen years ago) link

> And no there is no reason whatsoever.

Define reason. I mean, if there was no reason for it to grow, it wouldn't be growing would it?

There's no question that body hair is a vestigial trait that serves no current purpose - that's why it's as rare and sparse as it is. Don't forget that the same is true of the hair on the head, though, as well as most of your fingers and toes, etc. And if you ever wear makeup or have any piercings you really need to shut up about necessity right now.

Oilyrags, Friday, 20 July 2007 11:31 (sixteen years ago) link

this thread needs WAY more pictures.

also grey chest hair on me = woo!

(grey pubes though...slightly less woo)

CharlieNo4, Friday, 20 July 2007 11:46 (sixteen years ago) link

MB on the direction this went. My comments were (mostly) in jest but I guess I didn't really convey that. Yes I do know body hair has a purpose or else why would it be there? I just don't like having to shave. Moreover I recognize the potential "aesthetic" value of something that serves no real purpose IMO like chest hair. My nipples have no reason to exist either but I'm still glad I have them.

DustinR, Friday, 20 July 2007 13:20 (sixteen years ago) link

u shave ur body hair??!! why? don't u hate stubble, razor burn, the chicken look?

Surmounter, Friday, 20 July 2007 13:25 (sixteen years ago) link

Sorry. I get a little defensive about hirsuteness, since, as I mentioned above:

I wish. ;_;

One time I was changing at the gym and some guy, a complete stranger, looked at me and said, "There must have been a bear in your family!" Like, THANKS FOR THE AWKWARDNESS, COMPLETE STRANGER. I really wanted to say, "Yes, that's exactly right, my maternal great-grandmother fucked a bear. You want to inappropriately check out my package while you're commenting?"

Phil D., Friday, 20 July 2007 13:53 (sixteen years ago) link

omg that's awful i woulda told him off

Surmounter, Friday, 20 July 2007 14:19 (sixteen years ago) link

I was too flabbergasted to say anything! Like commenting on complete strangers' bodies in the men's locker room was suddenly acceptable and I didn't get the memo or something.

Phil D., Friday, 20 July 2007 14:40 (sixteen years ago) link

Sometimes I wish I could comment on men's bodies in the locker room. Like, as in, "Old dude, you might want to think about wearing a towel. I can do without the preview of what I have to look forward to when I'm 65. Just a towel, that's all I ask."

kenan, Friday, 20 July 2007 14:49 (sixteen years ago) link

lol phil honest that's ridiculous

Surmounter, Friday, 20 July 2007 14:53 (sixteen years ago) link

Yeah, totally, Phil. I'm with Surmounter here.

I've had folks make remarks at me like that out of the blue, folks I didn't even know, but not in specific relation to chest hair and that is even more ridiculous than any shit I've ever heard said to me. I hope you told 'em off good.

Bad News Bears :(

Abbott, Saturday, 21 July 2007 22:01 (sixteen years ago) link

I can't read over the rest of the thread, but shoulder, back and upper arm hair are BADDDDDD.

Upper arm may not be great but the shaved upper arm hair look doesn't improve upon it at all.

Young girls seem to like chest hair more as they get older. And isn't chest hair back in style amongst the homosexuals? It's about to swing back into style.

Cunga, Sunday, 22 July 2007 00:43 (sixteen years ago) link

Excuse my confusing language there ("shaved upper arm hair", "young girls as they get older"

Cunga, Sunday, 22 July 2007 00:45 (sixteen years ago) link

Do you ever see a man in a suit with k-hairy hands and then wonder where all the other hair is, the mad extent of it? It's kind of distracting, but only a tiny bit.
