What is the tournament ID? (And is there a way to search for "ILX PWN CUP" instead of the tournament ID?)

CATBEAST!! (Z S), Sunday, 24 January 2010 20:27 (fourteen years ago) link

Wait - found it! I didn't realize I was defaulted to "Basic View" for the lobby.

CATBEAST!! (Z S), Sunday, 24 January 2010 20:28 (fourteen years ago) link

i normally just use the filter settings and look for private tourneys that happen at 16:00 (there's usually only 4 and only 1 that is $5+1

Meant to ask when the game window was open -- Mark, have you played Rush Poker yet?

I haven't, Wm - is there any genuine appeal, or is it just gimmicky? On FT I only play these ILX tourneys so my payroll is under $100...

Mark C, Monday, 25 January 2010 02:16 (fourteen years ago) link

It seemed gimmicky at first but after a week it seems truly brilliant. I can't play it -- I'm not a ring game player anyway, and I don't have the iron will needed to figure out a plan and stick to it. But I'm reading about people who are counting their winnings in buy-ins per hour, not big blinds per hour. Meanwhile FT is hauling in tons of extra rake.

sorry dudes, nodded off.

caek, Monday, 25 January 2010 09:05 (fourteen years ago) link

ooops.

xpost played rush twice so far, got two buy-ins back within 10 minutes (then chickened out). I really don't know why it's so fishy whether it's new at the moment - or that it's like people don't realising they're losing loads of cash because they aren't seeing the same people they're playing each hand as a comparison with themselves.

So weird that raising the number of players by one bumps the number of places paid by two.

Only one way to find out. I have some fine karakh vodka, not fine enough to lament the lack of mixers in my house though.

Hey Snrub! Your stack is diminishing!

Mark C, Sunday, 31 January 2010 21:21 (fourteen years ago) link

i don't like this game.

all in top pair to a flush draw, which i bluffed getting but mark did get. then i fail to rebuy 'cause i can't see where the button is. (i clicked the auto-rebuy thing in the bottom right, saw the timer clicking down but nothing saying REBUY Y/N?!??!)

take me to your lemur (ledge), Sunday, 31 January 2010 21:22 (fourteen years ago) link

Sorry to lose you Tom. That does suck, a lot. Load a new game and go on mad tilt.

Mark C, Sunday, 31 January 2010 21:27 (fourteen years ago) link

keeping mah money for the next pwn cup, got enough in the kitty for four more, if i don't get in the money for any of those then CYA!

You beat AA with 86o!

Congrats again to Rock Hardy, who is one hell of a player.

Mark C, Sunday, 31 January 2010 22:36 (fourteen years ago) link

excitement!

Really enjoyed it, you guys, and not just because I won!

As I was telling Mark, I'm probably done with real-money online poker for a few months except for the PWN CUP. I have no idea how to play against those aggromonsters.

the end times are coming, but they're just the beginning (WmC), Sunday, 31 January 2010 22:38 (fourteen years ago) link

i'm not complaining! except for my lack of ability to click fold as i knew exactly what hands were there.

good game though. next time you are all gonna get fucked!

The smile on my face, disguises the case, I bury the truth deep down in (ken c), Sunday, 31 January 2010 22:39 (fourteen years ago) link

I deposited $30 when we restarted these games 3 months ago, and only playing these games I'm up to $97 :)

Yeah, Ken, that was an odd hand, unless you think Rock's a bluffer (and have you EVER seen him show down a crap hand?)...

Mark C, Sunday, 31 January 2010 22:40 (fourteen years ago) link

I did a week ago, and got sent home in 14 hands. :-)

So, last week I totally forgot about the game, this week I registered three hours early and then totally forgot about the game. Fuck!

Mr. Snrub, Sunday, 31 January 2010 22:45 (fourteen years ago) link

or more accurately since 2007!

The smile on my face, disguises the case, I bury the truth deep down in (ken c), Sunday, 31 January 2010 22:46 (fourteen years ago) link

next week, mr snrub.

maybe we can all transfer $2 back for mr snrub's buy-in?

The smile on my face, disguises the case, I bury the truth deep down in (ken c), Sunday, 31 January 2010 22:47 (fourteen years ago) link

or $1.20/$1.80/$3 even? :)

The smile on my face, disguises the case, I bury the truth deep down in (ken c), Sunday, 31 January 2010 22:49 (fourteen years ago) link

wait no it should make up $5..

The smile on my face, disguises the case, I bury the truth deep down in (ken c), Sunday, 31 January 2010 22:49 (fourteen years ago) link

Almost every single time I play against non-ILX people, I make money. Just now, for example, I doubled my $20 buy-in in about 15 minutes. Every single time I play in the PWN cup, I lose $5-10 dollars. This stark difference can only be because...

a) you guys are way too good
b) I have had a horrible run of luck in the PWN cup
c) I'm not very good at tournament style poker (other than the PWN cup, I usually play ring games where you can come and go as you please, and the blinds don't go up over time)
d) the curse of catbeast

My brain tells me it's probably c), but my heart tells me d)

CATBEAST!! (Z S), Sunday, 31 January 2010 22:51 (fourteen years ago) link

I used to beat fairly consistently the $20 sngs when I played regularly, but that hardly makes me 1337. Ken is an awesome live player but I think he gets bored online. And Rock is a machine, with very few chinks.

re c), yes, it's a different skill for sure, and if you're not prepared to adjust your game as the blinds go up (especially versus other players who do), you'll probably underperform as things get interesting in a tourney,

Mark C, Sunday, 31 January 2010 22:54 (fourteen years ago) link

actually is it possible to run private ring games?

might be fun to do if we can also keep the buy in real low as a once a month special instead of usual tourney..
