Babs, sorry we never made the party. Ended up getting a curry on Brick Lane, then trekked around for what felt like hours looking for a cash machine and went for one pint. Then got to Kings Cross station to find it shut.

Shut, completely fucking SHUT. One of the biggest rail stations in the UK utterly shut at midnight on a Saturday. That is fucking revolting, no? The fact that we're supposed to come and marvel at our amazing fucking capital city but can't because we get charged £20 to travel there and can't even get back. It's not asking much to have a couple of night trains is it? GRRR!!

Anyway, we ended up spending about 3 hours hanging there and Katy's parent-cum-angels picked us up at 3:30am. Should've tried to get to the party but some of us were well tired and wouldn't have been much fun at a party.

You'll never sell any ice creams going that fast!!!

Ladykaty, Monday, 10 July 2006 11:11 (seventeen years ago) link

I didn't get your text til next day or would have campaigned more vigorously for your attendence.. You missed: lots of lovely cake and punch and cocktails, space hopper jousting and races, some truly outstanding dancing, marti bebe playing all my favourite tunes including the truly sublime "wacka wacka wacka wacka what's you're number" a fine selection of tunes in general (incl. gems such as consolid8- you suck, what time is love, bird house in your soul homo rainbow)... ah but i tease you. Next time gadget. Hope the wait wasn't too painful. Also how was the curry?

ginweasel, Monday, 10 July 2006 11:33 (seventeen years ago) link

birdhouse in your soul? damn, i missed out!!

the curry was good but i think i can vouch that it was a little tense at times because the restaurant owners had promised a free round, free popadoms and 35% off and we were wondering if he was going to stick with his offer or gob in our foods.

We did see some funny people at Kings X including an old man who would mutter to himself and laugh; a stranded family with three kids in tow; a sort of emo tranny faggot who threw a hissy fit at us for not having any cigarettes "NON-smokers? Tsk! Oh. My. God!". It was all fun and games.

dog latin (dog latin), Monday, 10 July 2006 12:08 (seventeen years ago) link

Oh yeh, and LadyKaty's post above refers to what the funny mumbling man shouted at an ambulance as it screeched through the night.

dog latin (dog latin), Monday, 10 July 2006 12:09 (seventeen years ago) link

I think I would definitely have had the fear under those bargainous conditions, did he come through?
bless the drunken shouter at ambulances.

i went to our lovely local sri lankan pie establishment last night and had some poteen for the 1st time, it was very nice i was well impressed and entirely free.

If only I'd known about this website before... http://www.warprecords.com/bluejam/barguide/
it's amazingly good.

i'm so tired i can't construct coherent speech any more, sleeps at 7 this eve i think.

ginweasel, Monday, 10 July 2006 12:42 (seventeen years ago) link

Ich bin didn't come. I put the cunt back into countryside with a long long long long penny-farthing ride.

Did you have a 'lovely afternoon out'?

The Tent Inovator, Monday, 10 July 2006 12:52 (seventeen years ago) link

It was great, went out on friday then felt nauseous all day saturday as a result. Met up with paedo lkaty satan and ?legend? which was very exciting but alas no tev, how i cried, and had recuperative gin then totally missed out RISE and went straight to my elderly friend's party where continued doing regenerative gin drinking, shortly feeling well enough to go and jeer at jousters in street outside. Some more gin down effected miraculous cure, felt well enough to wander around abusing everyone it was great. then started the whole sorry dance again on sunday morning finishing with some lovely poteen and feeling better again. today am so tired i have had to lock my door to prevent discovery of my passed out life drained corpse.
A lovely late afternoon/ evening then. How your country jaunt? Damn sight more health making i'll wager.

ginweasel, Monday, 10 July 2006 13:25 (seventeen years ago) link

Teadri, sounds like a fun activity. I was talking to me Ma about Poteen once and she started telling me how to make it and almost let me try to make some in the bath! But then realised it was a stupid idea and said I couldn't. Very odd, I think she was maybe a bit drunk. Perhaps she had already drunk some.

My Penny-Farthing quest was very fun, I went down a bunch of foot paths and monster paths and ended up in a weird village with a bruck-up church and a bare-old pub and drunk an beer. But I was fucking knackered by the time I got home again, then I went for a cuntry hike on Sunday and went to another different cuntry beer shop. Odd behaviour for the Tent Specialist but good. I'm considering getting 'heavily' into cycling.

I took some good photos of big King and little King by the by. In day light this time, so I'll chuck em on here soon. I also swapped big King for Little King to confuse Koffi AnnAnn(Selko's Creator)which worked but it only took her a couple of hours to notice.

The Tent Dealer, Monday, 10 July 2006 13:58 (seventeen years ago) link

what is poteen exactly? i heard it's nice. I thought it was a canadian dish?

dog latin (dog latin), Monday, 10 July 2006 14:03 (seventeen years ago) link

Er... Yeah, actaully it is. I'ts basically loads of chips with gravyish stuff poured all over it and cheese. I was thinking of Pocheen which is Irish Moonshine.

Tentagonal, Monday, 10 July 2006 14:07 (seventeen years ago) link

ihttp://www.drinkfinder.co.uk/asps%5Cuploads/big/1864-1.jpg
it is very nice and made out of potatoes hence the irish potatoe famine which occurred when the irish found that they could not cope with life under the depressive and terminally useless english landlords unless they were off their faces 24/7.

This is a similar reason as to why 90% alcoholics are Scottish and live at Kings Cross whoring themselves for fags.

ginweasel, Monday, 10 July 2006 14:21 (seventeen years ago) link

Ah, so I was right. That Canadian chip thing is called Poteen too though innit?

Tent Decorator, Monday, 10 July 2006 14:26 (seventeen years ago) link

Never heard of it unlesss you mean potlatch? Never tried it though, i expect it has dead thing in it. In irish the ts always seem to be chs really, it's the same deal with tir na n'og.
Hurray for the Kings can't wait to see mini lewis chilling with his big lewis bro.
There was a huge rons near the party on saturday i thought if nothing else it might act as a beacon of delight to draw you guys in, but no.

tev, explain your suddden enthusiasm for tents?

ginweasel, Monday, 10 July 2006 14:39 (seventeen years ago) link

"parent-cum-angels"
that is a lovely phrase on so many levels.

ginweasel, Monday, 10 July 2006 14:44 (seventeen years ago) link

Seen, Me Ma's school was called "tir na n'og".

I dunno with the tent obssession, it's been building for a while. Maybe it means I should go camping!?

Tento-Tev, Monday, 10 July 2006 14:55 (seventeen years ago) link

Ah Ha! I knew it existed! It's called "Poutine" and it's chips with cheese, gravy and curd.
