These days I'd rather listen to Kaputt. Don't ask me on Tuesday though.

I didn't know that 80's soft rock was now considered canon.

I just canonized it, the other day

Laziest River is shimming brilliance. I downloaded SOS, listened once and then deleted it.

It amazes me that people can make a decision based on one listen. Don't people give albums a chance to grow anymore?
Anyway, both great albums, but Sound Of Silver is an all time classic, one of my top ten albums ever.
― nate woolls, Saturday, 4 February 2012 10:05 (twelve years ago) link
both shit but sound of silver had one redeemable song and is the work of an artist at least capable of greatness, even if he refused to display it on this particular album
cannot believe some people with otherwise decent taste are into destroyer ugh at you all

Kaputtttttt

I have never given Bejar a chance based on his grating interjections to the first two New Pornographers records, but if this new one can compete with Sound of Silver, I will give it a try. Maybe before the end of this poll.

Not feeling Kaputt at all. SOS is okay but I wouldn't call it a great album - very patchy to be honest and not exactly brimming with amazing tracks. I feel like LCD never quite released the album he was meant to - Murphy's had some astounding tracks but never made a succinctly brilliant record.

The only feeling I get from Kaputt is one of thinking I should've checked out more stuff by PSB/New Order/Electronic by now. It sounds like a pantomime dame doing an impression of these acts, and I don't see how that's supposed to be a good thing.

DL have you heard The Laziest River by Destroyer? It was a vinyl only extra iirc. Balearic bliss.
I never understood the appeal of LCD. Basically what DL says, there's two or three great tracks but a whole album of LCD is completely unlistenable for me.

they are both totally overrated. destroyer (and kaputt) less though. kaputt is a pleasant listen but nothing groundbreaking at all. it is very middle of the road. i kind of like the musicality, the rich harmonies and textures. the voice is a little annoying but i got used to it.
― alex in mainhattan, Saturday, 4 February 2012 11:30 (twelve years ago) link
Likewise I am totally indifferent to both of them, they both leave me cold. They both seem to me to be the type of bands that tick all the right boxes for music journos and dont live up to the hype. No disrespec to the music journos on here because they seem alright!
