Who was Anita (Selma Hayek) in 54 supposed to be?

I searched and didn't see anything already posted about this...

We watched 54 again last night and it reminded me that I never found out what real life person she was based on. The Postlogue from the movie said she recorded an album for Casablanca Records, and I'm curious what record that is. Anyone around here know?

Thanks in advance.

I'd like to say me, but that probably isn't true.

but the 70's were heady times, i may have recorded an album for Casablanca. Neil and I were pretty tight. And there is a lot I don't remember.

I don't know, and I know you didn't ask for my opinion, but here tis anyway: despite my deep and abiding affection for Ms. Hayek (and Mike Myers), that movie SUCKED HARD. One of the few I actually wanted to walk out during.

A guy named Steve Rubell had a dream: To throw the best damned party the world had ever seen and to make it last forever. He built a world where fantasy was put up as reality and where an 80-year-old disco queen could dance till dawn. Where models mingled with mechanics, plumbers danced with princes. It was a place where all labels were left behind. A place where there were no rules.

yeah i'll agree the movie was pretty weak.
i was hoping it'd be better.
you'd think given the story and the history that it'd be hard to make it a boring film, but it was.

but it still left me wondering what record on casablanca had the history behind it

And it's a terrific site.
Thanks walter kranz!

Hmmmm

Maybe Suzanne Fellini ("Love On The Phone")?

That's a good Italian last name and she only had one album
And she evidently still lives in NY

seven years pass...

Has anyone seen the highly-regarded director's cut of this film? Apparently the studio made him do re-shoots, removed 45 minutes, and added like 20 that was filmed a month or so before it's premiere. The original cut is supposed to be far superior but I can't find it anywhere. Anyone have any leads?
