Yes it is. It is PAINFULLY slow and horrible. Soft Cell's cover is far superior (as are others I'm sure).
Anyway, it has "Burn" on it, it is not laden with total damnation. But it's not the best album ever by any means, not even close.

The story behind this one is great, it's in the liner notes to March to Fuzz -- they were contacted by Maverick to contribute a song and were given a clip of the film where they wanted the song to run, which showed one of the heroes (whoever it was) jogging along while 'appropriate' music was temporarily in place as a stand-in -- namely "Unbelievable" by EMF. So Mudhoney recorded this song.

Sadly it's not even THE George Clinton, just a middle of the road movie composer named George S. Clinton.
And for the record, I love NIN's cover of "Dead Souls". It doesn't top the original but it's not bad by any means. It's just...not the original. Also if you hate NIN then of course there will be no way you'll like it, ever.

Actually, "Sensurround" is a tremendously good song... Luckily it eventually became available as a B-Side a while after being only available on the Power Rangers OST. During the couple years it was only available on the soundtrack, I saw TMBG live several times, and they always apologized for the track's availability and asked for the audience's forgiveness for their association with the Power Rangers before they played the song live.

Although the Crow soundtrack does, in fact, blow, you have to admit that it suits the movie pretty well (although the movie is totally fucking sweet).
Of course, the only OSTs I've ever owned were from pre-90s movies and tend to be pretty good. Which I suppose says something about how much I really hated the 90s.

Rose from california Im just 17 and i love this cd because it has all the best alternative songs when all the breaker artists started to emerge away from conforming to what they thought rock was supposed to be standard. This cd brings back memories of real music as a kid... Rose also recommends:men without hats

Seems to me that most of the people who posted these albums looked at the bands involved and judged the records based on the few that they recognize, without having heard the actual songs.
Romeo + Juliet is not a bad album at all. It has "Talk Show Host" and "Lovefool," which are 2 of the best songs ever made.

Tracks 3 through 12 on The Crow are all good songs. The Cure song is eh, and the Medicene song is annoying. The other 2 are shit. 10 out of 14 isn't bad. The Crow soundtrack is not worth the title of this thread.
There are 2 good songs on Mad Love. (#3 and #6 I think.)
The Suburbia soundtrack has some shockingly outstanding moments (an 8-minute version of "Sunday" by Sonic Youth?!!?), but much like most of the albums discussed here, it's unfortuantely uneven.

I mean, look at it! LOOK AT IT! Symposium, Silver Sun, Dubstar, Space...it's like they went out of their way to make sure it would be unbearably dated within about five years of the film's release.
Also, this has got me a-wondering - does anyone still listen to Space, and if so, would they ever admit to it? I've nothing particular against them as a band, it's just not something I could imagine a normal person ever wanting to revisit. They just seem so rooted in that particular period of time(96-98) that going back and listening to them now would just be too strange.

Because personally, having come of age in the '80s, I would gladly take most anything recorded post-NEVERMIND over a large portion of the Top 40 twaddle popular through my senior year of high school (1990). I mean, Rick Astley vs. Soundgarden? Come on.

Soundgarden - 2nd album is OK but all else unlistenable, lyrics make healthy people wish they'd never been born, I can't front on the guitar solos but the rest of the package is just ugh

Bascially if you hate any decade's music, you are a hater, because if you looked a little harder, you should be able to find lots of stuff you enjoy. The 90's wasn't all grunge and gangsta rap.
Whereas sandwiches are just one out of 100's of foods, etc.

I wanted to look at some Pauly Shore soundtracks, but Encino Man has already been done by Partyman (starts w/Vince Neil) and In The Army Now actually had a score. That leaves:

id just like to take the time to say fuck any of you who dont like The Crow or the soundtrack.Brandon Lee poured his heart and sould into that movie, and then died before it was even released. Have more respect for the man than that and dont put down his movie or the soundtrack to his movie. Besides that there was only maybe 2 bad songs on the entire cd. Get better taste in music and you all will realize that.

the only discernible word I understood was "crucified"
That is My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult's "After The Flesh", a hyperactive remake of their song "Nervous Xians"

Apparently my mom-in-law the therapist would assign her clients to watch "The Crow" as homework. I think, if I had a therapist recommend that, I would never see that therapist again, and also I would probably feel embarrassed just at propinquity to their office.

IDK she would give it to bad moms to watch since there is some line like "mother is the blah blah purple prose written on the heart of a child." To her, that was the moral of the movie. What I got out of that film was 'dark club kids enact street fighter scenes in dry ice cathedral or maybe warehouse.'

Search:
1. Burn performed by Cure - 6:39 :: not totally vital, but not too shabby either. I rank this alongside 'Never Enough' w/ their second tier, but still highly listenable, 90s pre-Wild Mood Swings singles. 3. Big Empty performed by Stone Temple Pilots - 4:56 :: I was never as big on this as some, but the chorus hook is objectively undeniable. iirc this is where they first revealed themselves as descent pop band, despite having been previously disguised as Candlebox or whatever. 4. Dead Souls performed by Nine Inch Nails - 4:54 :: this works just about as well as you'd expect, which is pretty OK. Trent's snarl works well w/ the chorus. 12. Snakedriver performed by Jesus & Mary Chain - 3:41 :: one of my all-time fave Mary Chain tracks tbh. This KILLED live, actually. I think one reason I like it so much is that I imagine it blasting out of massive amplifiers & engulfed by a swarm of feedback13. Time Baby III performed by Medicine - 3:52 - don't listen to Ned. These guys were pretty good - I don't remember if the version here is the one produced by Robin Guthrie w/ Liz Fraser singing backup, but that is obv the version you want!
I honestly don't remember any other tracks b/c these ^ I knew from other records. Still even if it comes down to those five, it is seems reasonably salvageable for a standard 90s alternarock movie soundtrack.

i mean sure Baldwin has better things to do but it's not like he took a break from 30 Rock to make this movie or anything

It's not like I think Brand/Cruise/Baldwin/et al could be doing something better with their time - probably anything they'd be involved in would be an undignified mess. And I don't care about the stage musical or the original 80's songs. It's just that I'm insulted that somebody thought that this would be entertainment. I literally just found out, so maybe the anger will wear off. Or maybe not, because of the trio of bellends involved.

Producer A: "Whose career is on the skids that we can get cheap?"Producer B: "Russell Brand, Tom Cruise, and Alec Baldwin."

Mission:Impossible 4 made ~$700 million worldwide, I think Tom Cruise is doing fine.
