I've recently noticed that some of the ads I see on youtube (where I am logged in via my google name) seem to be based on information culled from things I've written in google docs, which I find a little strange. I know they target ads based on your emails which is already slightly invasive but I've never been sure exactly how much they are culling (my guess: everything). I've heard that google can/does track websites you visit so long as you are logged into google on chrome? Is this true or myth?
I've seen google talked about on these boards here and there, particularly their giant server farms full of this info, but I guess I'd like to hear what the Google public line on this stuff is (my guess: "We collect everything to better serve your webbrowsing experience!") as well as what we suspect they may have.

google history was actually super useful for a while, but i can't get it to work as well anymore. just to endorse their hoarding for a moment. having a record of every time i've visited merriam-webster.com is a pretty good learning aid.
