Is there really no thread and/or discussion for MTV's Jersey Shore yet? This show is pure gold. I'm about 7 mins into the first episode and there have already been about 15 amazing quotes/potential GIF moments. Wow. I <3 NJ forever. Mostly because it reminds me of Long Island but yeah, guidos 4 lyfe.

i remember an episode of mtv's made where the girl who wanted to be made was a religious self-tanner. i can't remember what she wanted to be made into, but as part of her training, her coach had her yell out things that she hated to pump her up, or something. and she yelled, I HATE BEING CALLED ORANGE and then in a confessional she spoke tearfully about how the thing she hated most in the world was to be called orange. and it was moving, because she was just a kid and she was so upset about it, but it was also like...but...you are orange. there was something going on i just didn't get.

Speaking of Staten Island - maybe everyone already knows this, but most of the "Jersey Guidos" on Jersey Shore are in fact from Staten Island. Which frustrates me, because, yes, parts of the jersey shore are trashy, but they're trashy in a much more nuanced and complex way.

I think only one of them was from Staten Island. Snickers is from Poughkeepsie and JWOWW is from Long Island (represent yo). One of the dudes is from RI and another from the Bronx. OMG WHY DO I KNOW THIS?
